Snowshoeing at the Lower Bulloses Lakes
This time, we offer a guided mountain excursion for a circular route around the lower lakes of the Bulloses area, one of the most beautiful spots in the Pyrenees, at the foot of the iconic Carlit (2,921 m).
This route is designed for those looking for a longer and more physically demanding trek. The total duration is approximately 6 hours, depending on snow conditions.
We’ll drive to Pla dels Avellaners, about 25 km from Puigcerdà.
Once we park the vehicles, we’ll gear up with snowshoes and poles, then begin our trek toward Estany Negre, where we’ll encounter the steepest climb of the excursion. Upon reaching the lake, we’ll start the circular route towards Estany de Pradella. After passing this lake, we’ll make our way to the Boulloses Lake at 2,039 m, which will be the farthest point of our journey. From here, we’ll begin our return, passing by Estany del Racó and Estany Llarg, likely frozen over.
During the route, we’ll enjoy mountain lakes and the diverse vegetation at 2,000 meters altitude, including Alpine rose, broom, black pine, and, depending on the slope, juniper. We’ll also follow numerous animal tracks along the way.
